Origin - the point at which the axes in a coordinate system intersect.

Quadrant - region of a coordinate plane bounded by the x- and y-axis

Ordered pair - two real numbers that locate a point in the plane.

Dependent variable - the value of the y variable that depends on the value of the x.

Independent variable - the value of x that determeines the value of y.

Function - a rle that associates every x-value with one and only one y-value.

Vertical line test - a way of determining whether a graph is a function; if a vertical line intersects a graph in more than 1 point, the graph is not a function.
