This course is designed to meet the Alaska Independent Distance Education Curriculum, State of Alaska Performance and Content Standards,
and National English Language Arts Education Standards. Joe Marley has developed
this course to meet your special needs as well. Please contact him if you have
a need that is not met by this course. AIDE/AGS American Literature is a comprehensive
course that covers Genres and writing styles by through writings about: Forging
America's Literary Tradition: 1620-1849; The Inspiration of New England: 1837-1860;
Local Color in America: 1849-1889; the Harvest of Realism and Naturalism: 1890-1908;
American Literature Comes of Age: 1905-1940; Moving Into Modern Times: 1940-1970;
and Contemporaty American Literature: 1971-present. Quizzes and tests are available
on-line (graded immediately) or printed upon request. For an extra fee, tests
may be sent out in a packet to a parent or a local instructor and mailed back
for grading. Study guides and lesson summaries are also available in packet
form or on-line. The comprehensive check list below lists all items to be completed
in the course. You may use it to keep track of where you are in the course.
