If you wish to do this investigation you will need a plant that will produce roots from a broken off piece of the plant. The plant in this investigation is the African violet plant. There are many others that will do this as well. (Even some trees will work, the willow for one) Ask at a local nursery or your teacher for help in identifying the proper plant to use. You may of course contact me jmarley@kyu.yksd.com and I can point you in the right direction.
Obtain a plant that has the ability to produce roots from a broken off piece
You will now need water, 2 paper cups, aluminum foil, and potting soil (regular soil will work but it is not as good for the plant)
Follow the procedure on page 161.
