Chapter 11 Introduction
Materials:
Objective:
Anticipatory Set: * Students will look at five different pictures of horses. Then they will discuss what is different about the horses. Students will then take a piece of scratch paper and draw a table with horse names on left and five characteristics on the top. Students will then describe each of those characteristics of each of the horses. Students will describe the characteristics they listed to the teacher as the teacher list them for the students.

Teacher Input: * Show the students several pictures of this cabbage. In the last 100 years scientists, amateur and professional, have made many discoveries in genetics. In these cabbages the color, size and taste of the cabbage has been changed to be more of what the gardener wants.

Introduce the students to "Organize Your Thoughts" on P265. Go through the different topics we will cover this chapter. Then go through the Goals for learning this chapter.
Guided Practice: * Scan the chapter with the students. Look at the different pictures, read some of the key points and the "Did you Know parts" Talk about the worksheet "Genetics Introduction" and the worksheet "Applied Genetics in Your Community".
Independent Practice: * Have the students complete the two worksheets;
