Turn to Page 256 and go through the Objectives in the green.

Scan Pages 256-257; focus on the blue boxes, which contain the key vocabulary terms. Look at the pictures and read the captions.

Gather the materials you need; 3 plastic petri dishes, plastic eye dropper, small continer of water, petri dish cover, lamp with at least 60-watt bulb, clock or stopwatch, paper towels.

Investigation 11-2 "Measuring the Effect of Salt Water on Floating"

Gather the materials you will need: 2 small, clear plastic soft-drink bottles, tablespoon, table salt, fine-tip waterproof marker, masking tape, drinking straw, centimeter ruler, modeling clay.

Follow the procedure on page 273-274.
