Vocabulary Terms
branch - one of the libraries in a system of libraries.
catalog - any list of information
library catalog - a catalog that lists most of the materials in a library, it includes three types of listings; title,author, and subject.
a catalog that lists all the magazines a library subscribes to and identifies the issues the library has.
Microfiche - a film card that stores many pages of reduced copy
audiovisual catalog - a catalog that lists by title or subject films, videotapes, CD-ROMs, and DVDs that a library owns.
database - a large collection of information stored for quick research.

Fiction - An imaginary story
Nonfiction - based on facts
Novel - a long ,complex story
Short story - a story that usually can be read in one sitting
Biography - a nonfiction book about a real person that someone else writes
Dialogue - conversation
Auto biography - a story of real person's life written by that person
Biographical novel - a fictional account of a real person's life
History book - a nonfiction book about real people and events of the past.
Historical novel - a fictional story about real people and events
bibliography - a list of books and articles an author has used as references to write a book - bibliographies usually appear in the back of the book.

Dewey Decimal System - a system that libraries use to classify and organize books.
Call number - The numbers and letters assigned to a library book - the determine where the book will be placed on the shelf.
