Vocabulary Terms
Numeral - a symbol representing a number.
Digit - any one of the ten symbols; 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9
Decimal number - A number written in base 10
Base 10 - A system of counting based on groups of tens.

Place value - Worth of a digit based on its position in a number.
Expanded form - numbers written to show the place value of each digit.
Power of 10 - A product of 10 multiplied by itself one or more times
Exponent - Number that tells how many times another number is a factor.

Addition - The arithmetic operation of combining two or more numbers to find a total.
Subtraction - the arithmetic operation of taking one number away from another.
Inverse - opposite or reverse.
Operation - addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
