Vertical - Straight up and down
Horizontal - Left to right or parallel to the horizon.
Coordinate system - A way of using number lines to locate points on a plane or in space.
x-axis - the horizontal, or left-to-right, axis in a coordinate system.
y-axis - the vertical, or up-and-down, axis in a coordinate system.
Quadrant - On of four regions of a coordinate system bounded by the x-axis and y-axis.
Origin - The point at which the x-axis and y-axis intersect in the coordinate system.
Ordered pair - A set of two real numbers that locate a point in a plane.
Can you locate points corresponding to ordered pairs of numbers in a coordinate system?

Pattern - A list of numbers, shapes, colors, and so on that repeats in such a way that the next item can be guessed.

Dependent variable - The value of the y variable that depends on the value of the x.
Independent variable - the value of x that determines the value of y.
Vertical line test - A way of determining whether a graph is a function; if a vertical line intersects a graph at more than 1 point, the graph is not a function.

Slope-intercept form - The slope-intercept for of a line in which m = slope and b = y-intercept is y = mx + b
