Chuck and Gladys Dart, Manley Hot Springs
Chuck and Gladys Dart live in the village of Manley Hot Springs on the Tanana River. As the name suggests, there are active hot springs, a major feature of the village and the lives of Chuck and Gladys who own them. The maintain a small family business geared more towards community residents than visitors. The Dart’s greenhouse produces hundreds of pounds of tomatoes each summer season as well as eggplant, melons, bellpeppers and cucumbers.
Gladys Dart was the first teacher in the reorganized Manley Hot Springs grade school in 1958.
